Find the plate

A metal or foil sticker on your outdoor unit or furnace, printed with a model and serial number.

Take a photo

Get close enough to read it. If it's faded, snap it anyway and we'll work it out from the serial.

Where the plate hides

Two places to check. It takes about a minute.

Outside

On the condenser

The big square box outside that hums in summer. The plate sits on the side panel, usually near the pipes and the electrical box.

Inside

On the furnace or air handler

Check the attic, a closet, the garage or the crawlspace. Open the front panel if you need to. The plate is usually inside the door.
